WHAT IS COACHING?

Coaching is a certified and recognised profession which assists individuals to achieve their personal and professional goals with extraordinary results. Coaching embraces aspects of business, psychology, counselling and philosophy and applies these concepts to suit the needs and interests of the individual. Through the relationship which develops between an individual and his or her coach, the individual develops an awareness of his or her intentions and an appreciation of how to bring them into effect.

Coaching is like the parenting that we never got from our own parents who simply didn't know how or what was good for the individual child that we each were. We all know where or how far we can go unconsciously. Coaching makes the process conscious. Coaching offers definite clear tools for behavior change rather than concentrating on debilitating unconscious, misdirected intuitions, and gut feeling alone. These gut feelings are strong and feel right but as the term clearly states, are received at an inferior level. What we surely need is working at a higher level, the level of the head. It makes sense therefore to use intuition together with the head, as the only alternative.

In summary, coaching is parenting for adults seeking to improve their chances of a strong future. Coaching helps to uncover our unconscious strengths to break free from our limiting beliefs. Coaching is about building a unique vision for the individual’s future, a vision of unlimited possibilities.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

A coach listens, observes and engages with you to formulate a personal plan which identifies the choices and steps to take, for the achievement of your goals.  A variety of techniques are used to help you clarify your objectives, align them with your values, change your behaviours and reinforce the changes

WHAT DOES A COACH DO?

By asking questions and observing patterns of behaviour, a coach is able to guide you in identifying where you want to go and the best way for you to get there.  A coach challenges you to face the difficult questions we all must consider in order to achieve personal and professional growth, yet a coach supports you through this process by keeping you focused on your goals.  Above all, a coach makes you accountable for your life so that even after the coaching relationship ends, you have an understanding and awareness of your actions and what they mean in your life.

HOW DO I KNOW THAT COACHING IS RIGHT FOR ME?

You know coaching is right for you when you begin to develop an awareness of your goals and values and the essence of accountability, ie "How am I contributing to this particular outcome?".

You know coaching is right for you when there is an alignment between your goals, values and the actions that support them.

You know coaching is right for you when you feel a sense of well-being which eventually will be reflected in your personal and professional life.
